Eph. 6:13-17 (13) Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground,... (14) ..., with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness..., (15) and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. (16) In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. (17) Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (NIV) |
Hello and welcome. Please allow me to address your most immediate question first. Yes, I actually am a Knight. Yes, as in suit-of-armor and yes, as in Sir Daniel. I have been knighted by the Lord and by man. I do not belong to an Order, as one might associate an order and knights. Instead, I serve the KING of Kings. His Order is Creation and His Kingdom is everything that is known and unknown. I did not seek, nor did I inherit, the title of Knight. Instead, I responded to a calling from the Lord.
The concept of a knight is one that has been portrayed, for good and bad, throughout history. Knights actually came into full service before the Crusades and faded as an official position around the time of exploration to the New World. King Arthur's round table, the Templars, and Ivanhoe are a few famous examples of knights. Modern knights are mostly a 'formal title' that is bestowed for service, honor, or as a political title. There are, however, a few knightly orders that remain active. Symbols of knights are spread through today's culture with the most common form being sports teams and school mascots. The U.S. Marines and police officers have also been referred to as 'modern knights.' As a Knight, I do not fall into any of these categories or examples.
My service as a Knight is one of the truest forms. I lived by the Code of Chivalry before I even knew the breath and scope of it. It was written within me by my KING, and throughout my life, it has been shaped, honed, and sharpened. And on December 6, 2009, it was revealed to me.
Before continuing, I must clearly state what a Knight is. Some play the role of knight, very few are a Knight. There are also many broad terms and ideas. Before honor, pageantry, and splendor that comes with the romantic concept of a knight, a Knight is first and foremost A SERVANT.
A knight...
...lives a life of service to his KING in all things. His life is not his own; it literally belongs to his KING.
...is a steward of the KINGDOM, and is continually about his KING's business.
...is upright and moral in all things. He conducts himself as if his KING were next to him at all times.
...loves and defends his KING, the Truth, forgiveness, compassion, mercy, and grace up to and including his own life.
...hates and battles spite, malice, discontent, cruelty, selfishness, and all form of evil up to and including his own life.
In the United States, in today's "me first" society, in a cultural of instant-everything, being a SERVANT is not what one aspires too. However, these words may strike you and draw you closer. If they do not, feel free to leave this site. I wish you a good day. If they do, and you are moved, then I invite you to stay and explore.
Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless, pray for the weak and do no wrong. This is my oath.....
